~ Deardorff Farm Tour - 2015
“The Garden Club toured Deardorff Family Farms on Thurs. Oct. 22. There were 23 of us. They are located in Oxnard and operate 2000 acres of farmland which includes 500 certified organic acres.
After a talk and film about the company, we drove to the ranch and saw first hand how they grow, pick and process all kinds of produce. It was a very interesting tour. Lunch was at the Olive Garden.

“Because of our weather, California has four growing seasons, and produces more food than any other state. Camarillo is in Ventura County, which is the 11th highest county in agricultural production in our state. For this reason, today’s Garden Club field trip was especially meaningful to all of us. We toured Deardorff Farms, a 2,000 acre farming enterprise. Deardorff farms is a leader in organic farming, and what an education we received today! Lunch afterwards at Olive Garden topped off this delightful learning experience”
